Hailing from Beaujolais (the southernmost region of Burgundy, France), Gamay is Pinot Noir’s similarly light-bodied but historically somewhat “back-country cousin.” In the past decade though, Gamay has gone mainstream, snagged the hearts of sommelier and collectors, and has been certifiably blowing up our shelves. Known for its subtle earthiness, crunchy red fruit and delicate floral aromatics, this is the grape we recommend bringing to any dinner because it can pair with just about anything. With a certain big smorgasbord-y feast coming up later this month, we thought we’d show you how Gamay can cure nearly any pairing predicament. - $15
